merican wine has been produced for over 300 years. However, only one percent of African American women own a wine label. Vintner Chrishon Lampley is breaking barriers as an African American woman entrepreneur in the wine industry. She’s the woman behind Love Cork Screw Wine and she is making her mark in the industry. “I have worked on all sides of the alcohol industry, and I was ready to have my own company,” says Lampley.
With 20 years of experience in sales at a wine distributor and managing retail accounts, this gave Lampley the contacts and experience necessary to establish her own brand. In 2009, she opened Three Peas Art Lounge, which was an art gallery and bar-lounge that eventually grew into a popular location for Millennials. Due to a horrible flood, Three Peas Art Lounge had to close its doors and that’s when her wine and lifestyle Love Cork Screw brand was born.
